Video Transitions
Quick tip - Video Transitions (Fades)
Previously, I struggled with properly positioning a video transition between two clips, which often resulted in wasting a significant amount of time. Here is a solution to overcome this. Watch this clip, and then I will explain in more detail.
Firstly, why do we sometimes have this issue, and how many of you give up due to time constraints and plug the tabs to emulate a fade effect?
Pulling the tabs in is not a good workaround, as you could still have frames at the end of the clip.
As the video shows, select where you want to make your transition, left-click so the extreme edges of both clips are highlighted green, and then right-click. The special note in the video is that the transition selected is the standard default transition, indicated by a red dash.
Once you have watched the video and applied the method, the Standard Transition will be selected. After you have created the transition, use Ctrl-c on a PC or option-c on a Mac to copy it. Then, choose the location where you want to insert the transition and paste it. After pasting, feel free to make any necessary adjustments to the transition.
To modify the Transition Type, first select the desired transition and adjust the Duration and/or Frames to either shorten or lengthen the transition. Additionally, there is an alternative method, which I haven't explicitly discussed here. If you are interested in learning more about this hidden approach, please let me know, and I can create a separate post to provide a demonstration. I found this technique very helpful, and I hope it will be beneficial for you as well.
Please note I use Davinci Resolve Studio.
